Numerous pathogenetic mechanisms may lead to the progressive loss of intellectual and higher mental function known as dementia. This makes it impossible to construct a uniform diagnostic battery which would adequately address the recognition and
diagnosis of dementia. Dementia must be approached with a multi-modal concept in terms of social, familial and ethical perspectives as well as scientific methodology. This essay attempts to outline a practical overview of initial recognition and
diagnostic evaluation of dementia Korea.
